Published by Brother Jonathan. Wilson & Company, 1842
Seller: Riverby Books, Fredericksburg, VA, U.S.A.
Soft cover. Condition: Good. Extra Number. Boz's new work on America. New York. November 7, 1842. 3 signatures, sewn together. 48 pages. Pages 1-45 are the Dickens piece. Pages 46-47 are Notes from Europe, book reviews and poetry. The back page, 48, is an illustration. Printed in two columns on poor quality paper, but this copy is clean and flat and in quite good condition. A tear on the front page, which affects pages 2 and 3 also, but is not bad. Wide, uneven margins. Overall quite good condition, especially considering that it was issued as scarcely more than a newspaper, to ride the incredible celebrity of Dickens. Though this purports to be the first edition of the work, it was actually the second a competitor beat them to the pressed by mere hours.
