At no extra cost to you, we'll donate 0.5% of your order total to the charity you selected. There's no such thing as a maximum donation, so the more you buy, the more we give.

Women on Wings provides business consultancy to Indian social entrepreneurs that create employment for women in rural India. The donation we make here will be used to support tech start-ups in India who provide the majority of their employment to women.

AbeGives is a month-long giving campaign that supports three causes that closely align with our company values: literacy for all, global relief, and women's rights.

Throughout the month of October, customers can ask AbeBooks to donate 0.5% of their order total, at no extra cost to them, to Worldreader, Direct Relief, or Women on Wings. There's no such thing as a maximum donation, so the more our customers buy, the more Abe gives.

No. Donations are made by AbeBooks, at absolutely no extra cost to you. You will be charged for your order total only (items + shipping). You will not be charged for the donation.

AbeBooks believes that everyone should have the opportunity to read, and Worldreader has a mission to make that happen.

What Worldreader program will AbeBooks donate to, and what's the potential impact?

AbeBooks' donations to Worldreader will sponsor e-reading programs at four public schools in Tema, Ghana. This e-reading program will include weekly books clubs, daily reading clinics, and reading camps for Ghanian students to increase reading speed, comprehension, and enjoyment.

AbeBooks' donations to Women on Wings will sponsor a four-month mentorship program for a tech startup.

Why did AbeBooks launch AbeGives?

We launched AbeGives to support three causes that are very important to us: literacy for all, global relief, and women's rights.

Why not just donate to the charities? Why involve me?

Giving back is an integral part of our company culture, and we want to share that passion with our customers while raising awareness about important issues.

Can I participate from my mobile device?

Yes. Donations are triggered at checkout, so you can participate in AbeGives from whichever device you place your AbeBooks order from.

I want to make my own donation - can I do that through AbeBooks?

No. At this time, we can only donate 0.5% of your order total to our charity partners. We cannot process any additional donations. We encourage you to visit our partner websites if you wish to make an additional donation.

I just cancelled my order, will this cancel the donation as well?

Yes. Any return, cancellation, or unfulfilled order will cancel the associated donation amount.

How long will AbeGives be available on AbeBooks?

From 12:01am October 1 2017 to 11:59pm October 31 2017, Pacific Standard Time.

Will AbeGives be a permanent AbeBooks feature?

AbeGives is currently a seasonal campaign, however, we are investigating the possibility of a permanent option.

Can I receive a tax deduction for amounts donated from my purchases on AbeBooks?

Donations are made by AbeBooks and are not tax deductible by you.
