About the Author:
Kay Jones holds a degree in Chinese studies and French language from the State University of New York at Albany. Originally from the US, she lived in Beijing for three years and continues to travel there frequently. She has also lived in France, England, and Japan. Her professional background includes work in the fields of international trade, not-for-profit, and retail, with over a dozen years spent consulting on global business practices and intercultural issues. She has travelled around China as well as to Singapore, Canada, Italy, and Germany, and speaks Mandarin, French, and some Japanese in addition to her native English. Although she has written several articles on foreign businesses operating in China, this is her first book. Anthony Pan was born in China and educated in Hong Kong and the US. He completed graduate studies in sociology and East Asian studies at Princeton University and in Chinese history at the University of California at Berkeley, going on to teach East Asian sociology and history at Sophia University in Tokyo. Later, he conducted research in Chinese history as a Fulbright Fellow at Tokyo University. He holds a law degree from Columbia University, and is a member of the New York Bar. For several years he has worked as a consultant, travelling frequently to Beijing and other Chinese cities to advise on international business and cultural issues. He speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, English, and Japanese.
