From School Library Journal:
While the contents page suggests that this book is organized by month, from August through May, the text is actually organized by theme, e.g., "Birthdays," "Teddy Bear Day," "Library Lovers Month," "Humor Month." Given the title and subtitle, one might expect more holiday-related themes, as well as activities that connect directly to library skills, not just to literature appreciation. Each chapter does provide several activities related to the topic, as well as an extensive list of books and Web sites. Activities include games, reproducible puzzles, contests, and writing activities, among others. An activity index lists the types of projects and the chapters in which they can be found. An extensive bibliography lists all of the titles suggested and all of the Web sites. However, what is lacking is a traditional index. While the book does provide many ideas for literature-appreciation activities, it is difficult to access the material.–Karen Stuppi, Harmony Elementary School, Middletown, NJ
