Nia is an average teenage girl with an average teenage life - she likes make-up and boys, but she's not so keen on homework. One moonlit night an encounter with a fierce creature changes her life forever. What is the creature's connection to the stranger in her aunt's house? And why is it only seen when the moon is full?

About the Author:
Award-winning author Jenny Sullivan is both a prolific and popular writer. She now lives in Brittany, but returns often to Wales, visiting schools and libraries across the country to hold writing workshops. She won the Tir na n-Og Award in 2006 for the best English-language book for children with her historical novel Tirion's Secret Journal.
Review:
Sullivan takes her trademark chatty, feisty heroine and gives her a lot to contend with in this new addition to the werewolf genre. The tone of voice is informal and conversational, making the target audience (girls aged 1014) feel they know this girl almost as soon as the novel begins! Nia belongs to an eccentric family, and, even without the addition of a teenage were-boy, her life would be complicated. She has a crush on a rugby-obsessed boy, her sister has just been talent-spotted for a new TV show, and her Auntie has recently been violently mugged. In fact, these aspects of the book work rather more successfully than the supernatural elements, which feel a little shoe-horned in to meet the new vampire/zombie/werewolf craze. It is as a story of family love overcoming conflict and secrets that Full Moon is at its most engaging. Mael could just as well be a homeless boy, but for the fact that the story needs his wolfish sense of smell at one key point. The novel is a lively, pacey, energetic read, and will certainly please its teenage readers. It works as a stand-alone novel, but leaves the door open for Auntie Gwenny to introduce more unusual characters into Nias hectic life.
