About the Author:
Rick Smith, a native of South Carolina. He grew up with a passion for sports. In his early years, he discovered that basketball was his sport of passion. Having played basketball his entire life, Coach Smith as a college student, and later as an independent sports consultant, offered athletic training and development to basketball players as a guest trainer for various camps and clinics, including working at the prestigious Nike Skills Academy. He is now more committed than ever to sharing his passion for basketball with others who share his love for the game. He combines his experiences as an alternative school educator and High school physical education teacher with his love for sports to develop what he calls "the total athlete." Through Trax Sports, Coach Smith trains well-rounded athletes to have the hearts, minds, and skills to excel on and off the court. In addition to running camps and clinics, Coach Smith is the former Athletic Director and boys basketball coach in Washington, DC. He led the school's basketball team to four championships in three different conferences. He serves as a board member for several organizations where he contributes his entrepreneurial insights and basketball expertise to enhance programs and organizations that offer opportunities for youth and young adults to develop into successful athletes. Tony Skinn is an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech University. Coach Skinn had an illustrious playing career as a three-year letterwinner at George Mason, two of which was coached by Eric Konkol, and as a professional where he played overseas and took part in the 2012 Olympics as a member of the Nigerian national team. As a starting point guard for Nigeria, Skinn helped his native country defeat the Dominican Republic to earn the last spot in the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He went on to average 10 points per game in the FIBA Olympic qualifiers. Prior to playing in the capital of England, Skinn played professionally all over Europe. He spent three years in France and a year in Italy, Germany and Israel. A big part of the opportunity given to him overseas was as a result of his collegiate career which ended with a bang by helping lead George Mason on an amazing run to the Final Four as a senior in 2006.
