Jane Cobb, BA, MLS, has a BA in English Literature from the University of Victoria (1979), and a Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of British Columbia (1981). She has worked as a Children’s Librarian serving families and children in public libraries in BC for twenty-seven years (1982 2009). Most recently Jane was the Coordinator of Parent-Child Mother Goose Programs for the Vancouver Public Library in Canada where she created fifteen multi-lingual outreach programs for families living in Vancouver (2001 2009). She has also been a sessional instructor of Children’s Services at UBC and Langara College(1994 2007); and was one of four provincial trainers for the Toronto-based Parent-Child Mother Goose Program (2002 2009). She is the author of two classic resources for Children’s Librarians and Early Childhood Educators: I’m a Little Teapot: Presenting Preschool Storytime (1996) beloved by K teachers, librarians and early childhood educators alike, and What’ll I Do with the Baby-o: Nursery Rhymes, Songs, and Stories for Babies (2007) which won a Mom’s Choice Gold Award in 2009. Jane is now a writer, presenter, and early language and literacy consultant. Her Power of Rhyme and Storytelling workshops have inspired thousands of librarians and educators to enjoy using her oral approach to early language and literacy development.
