In 1999, there were over 680 million people using various types of wireless technologies. Wireless products and services that are being introduced to the market have advanced features and services, that enhance or replace alternative wired solutions. This book is a guide which provides the big picture of the major wireless technologies, history, market projections, basic operation, key industry terminology, and future trends.

This book offers an introduction to existing and soon to be released wireless technologies and services. It covers what’s new in wireless from cellular to satellite. Each wireless technology has its own unique advantages and limitations which offer important economic and technical choices for managers, salespeople, technicians, and others involved with wireless telephones and systems. The Comprehensive Guide to Wireless Technologies provides the background for a solid understanding of the major wireless technologies, issues, and options available.

The book explains each technology and its services by using over 75 illustrations that have simple descriptions without formulas. Many of the industry buzzwords are defined and explained. These chapters are divided to cover specific technologies, services and trends and may be read either consecutively or individually.
