Primaryplots: A Book Talk Guide for use with Readers Ages 4-8 - Hardcover

Just about everyone working with children will find this an excellent choice, and it is essential for all school and public libraries. It is big, meaty, and easy to use, and the books selected are the best, most current, and can be found in most libraries. Primaryplots is essentially a book talk guide for use with children in grades K-3. It includes brief summaries of the books featured, information on the authors, materials and activities for book talks, lists of similar and/or related titles, audiovisuals and thematic materials. There is a good index of authors, titles, subjects, and illustrators and eight categories of books to pick from, including, "Finding a Picture Book," "Focusing on Folktales," "Developing a Positive Self-Image." Similar in some ways to Margaret Read MacDonald's well-done Booksharing: 101 Programs to Use With Preschoolers (Library Professional Pubns., 1988) but more comprehensive and broader in scope.
