After escaping the sack of Rome in 549 AD two adventurers, the Greek Nicander and former legionary Marius, dare all to steal the secret of silk from China. Rooted in the historical record, this is an epic quest across a vast geographical canvas from legendary Sinae to the vast steppes and deserts of Central Asia to imperial Constaninople. It is also a tale of friendship, courage, myth and love.

About the Author:
At the age of fourteen, Julian Stockwin was sent to Indefatigable, a tough sea-training school. He joined the Royal Navy aged fifteen. Julian has written 14 books to date in the Kydd series of historical adventure fiction, as well as a non-fiction book, 'Stockwin's Maritime Miscellany.' He lives in Plymouth with his wife Kathy.
Review:
"...a fascinating story, full of colour and incident. Many of his characters were real people who lived and died during this period of the 6th century. His other characters, including Nicander and Marius, are fictitious, but they dovetail in perfectly and are totally believable participants in the story. I enjoyed this book very much and will look out for this author again." (Historical Novels Review)

"Stockwin lived in the Far East and visited many of the places in the story. His details as in all the books he writes are vivid and lend authenticity and immediacy to the tale. You will find The Silk Tree an enjoyable read, a wonderful place to immerse yourself, whether it's on a cold winter night by the fire or on a hot summer day on the beach... I think you'll find it a story you just have to read." (Booksville)

“A consistently well written and enormously entertaining read from cover to cover, "The Silk Tree" is certain to be an enduringly popular addition to community library Historical Fiction collections.” (Midwest Book Review)
