This practical guide introduces readers to the Zen principles Tom Crum has lived by and taught for many years. As a black belt in aikido, a motivational speaker, and an instructor in everything from mathematics to skiing, Crum learned that the key to success in any endeavor is mastering the art of "centering." He teaches here the vital techniques for achieving a more relaxed, energized, and integrated approach to our lives.

From the Author:
I'm a storyteller. All the stories in this book are true and should elicit comparisons from readers about their own lives. I have stories about being lost in the wilderness, about dealing with death, about skiing, golfing and traveling. These stories can be used as a metaphor for many readers whether they have or haven't had these direct experiences.

The book is about aliveness and vitality. If you're doing things in your life you don't want to do, you can often become very fatigued. This book is about being truly alive, and about doing those things you truly love. Mother Teresa obviously accomplished a lot in her life, and I doubt that she said "I'm too busy" too often. It's because she was doing her life's work.

I would love people to come away from this book and be really revitalized. It's a book about not missing any moments -- of having fun, learning and supporting each other.

From the Back Cover:
In The Magic of Conflict Thomas Crum taught thousands of people how to turn stress into success. Now, in Journey to Center, Crum combines his expertise in Aikido, peak performance coaching, and relationship training to teach the vital techniques for achieving a more relaxed, energized, and balanced life. Using anecdotes from his own journey and from the extraordinary people he's met around the world, Thomas Crum introduces the principle of centering, a skill for unifying body, mind, and spirit. Centering enhances performance in sports - from the quality of your golf game to skiing particularly difficult terrain - results in greater productivity and power at the office, and allows you to let go of stress and insecurities in order to enjoy harmonious relationships. With specific exercises and detailed information on applying centering to all areas of life, Journey to Center provides a step-by-step guide to this unique skill for improving yourself and your life.

Centering is available to all of us. Journey to Center teaches this vital skill for adding value to your world. Through centering, you will learn to turn a life of work into a work of art. It will allow you to become connected, aware, alive.
