About the Author:
Doug Cushman is a veteran mystery writer for children and the illustrator of more than 100 picture books. Among his many popular books are the seven HOLIDAY MICE books, written by Bethany Roberts. He lives in Northern California and Paris.
From School Library Journal:
Kindergarten-Grade 2-This is a simple, lighthearted tale of partying mice on Halloween who outwit a prowling cat with a trick of their own. After the party, when the mice are falling asleep, a small mouse pulls a prank of his own. Jane Staab's reading captures the tone of mischief, suspense, and fun of Bethany Roberts' original book (Clarion, 1995). With Doug Cushman's smoky watercolors and adorable mice, the effect is perfect. One side of the tape has page-turn signals and the other side is told uninterrupted. Unfortunately, the monotonous and synthetic background music detracts from the appeal of this audio version. Nonetheless, with the demand for Halloween materials, this set will not stay on the shelves long.
