P G Wodehouse was a British writer known for his comic style. Besides writing short stories and novels he also wrote plays and musical lyrics. Something New is the American title for the novel Something Fresh. Minor changes were made in the US version. In this version both Ashe Marson and Joan Valentine are Americans living in England. George Emerson is not a Hong Kong policeman, but a member of a New York law firm. Ashe and Joan meet and find they work for the same firm. They are for various reasons attempting to retrieve a scarab belonging to an American millionaire, absent-minded Lord Emsworth. Once within the Castle's idyllic walls, impersonating servants, a romance stirs. Meanwhile, Freddie Threepwood, who is engaged to the millionaire's daughter is worried about some incriminating letters.

About the Author:
P. G. Wodehouse (1881 1975) spent much of his life in Southampton, New York, but was born in England and educated in Surrey. He became an American citizen in 1955. In a literary career spanning more than seventy years, he published more than ninety books and twenty film scripts, and collaborated on more than thirty plays and musical comedies.
